What is Toastmasters?

Toastmasters is an international club dedicated to public speaking and leadership development. At each meeting, club members practice giving speeches, presentations, improvisations, and evaluations while in good company and in a fun, supportive environment. With thousands of chapters worldwide, DHR is hosting the City and County of San Francisco’s Toastmasters chapter.

Who can join?

The CCSF Toastmasters Chapter is open to all City and County of San Francisco employees, including permanent, temporary, seasonal, and as-needed employees, and interns.

When do we meet?

Our chapter meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 12-1pm.

Where do we meet?

Currently meetings are being conducted virtually over zoom. In person meetings at DHR may be resumed when we return to the office. Given that remote work may still be conducted and that our members may be based across the City, we may consider developing a hybrid of in person and virtual meetings in the near future.

Why should I join?

If you are interested in becoming a better public speaker or presenter, this is the club for you! Toastmasters has helped people all over the world become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders.

Our Citywide chapter will allow you to connect with your peers across different departments and expand your City network. Through this supportive community, you will be able to develop better speaking and listening skills, learn to give helpful feedback, enhance your leadership abilities, improve your storytelling skills, and grow your confidence. Regardless of where you are in your public speaking journey, this is a space to build on your skills and improve as a communicator.
