December 4, 2020

Dear City Employees:

This has been an incredibly challenging time for our entire City and for all our employees, especially our essential workers on the front lines fighting COVID-19.

Due to the aggressive increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, San Francisco and Bay Area counties will join the state in implementing the Regional Stay at Home Order in an effort to stabilize COVID-19 cases and preserve regional hospital capacity for those who need it most.

Beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 6, San Francisco will limit any gatherings to members of the same household, even if outdoors. The City will close all personal services, low contact indoor retail services such as pet grooming and shoe repair, outdoor dining, outdoor playgrounds, outdoor gyms and fitness classes, and outdoor museums.

For a full list of limitations and temporary closures visit: https://sf.gov/step-by-step/reopening-san-francisco .

Everyone has a role to play to slow the spread of the COVID-19 and protect public health. Each and every one of you should focus on taking care of yourself and your families. If you or a family member are sick, please stay home and/ or seek necessary medical care.

Departments have been encouraged to expand telecommuting for employees where possible and with approval from your supervisor.

Paid sick leave and vacation is available for those unable to work due to illness or to provide child or dependent care as needed due to school closures. Those who need sick leave and who do not have any available, including new hires, can request a sick leave or vacation advance. To apply, use this link to the application , and follow the guidance here to complete the form .

If you have concerns about your health or potential exposure to COVID-19, please contact your personal health care provider or the City’s Nurse Triage Hotline .

During this difficult time for our City, we remind you that counseling services from the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) are available to all employees.

Take care and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Carol Isen
Human Resources Director (Acting)
