Project Overview

What’s next for you?

In most careers, there comes a time to grow, improve, and prepare for next steps. This comprehensive four-day workshop series was developed especially to help City employees to dream, think, plan and execute the next steps in their careers.

Program components include: comprehensive assessment and goal setting activities, followed by interactive networking, resume writing and interview practice. This series also includes an online module which clearly explains the City’s recruitment and selection process.

Target Audience

This workshop series is open to all City employees.

Program Cost

The cost of attending this 4-day program is $675 per person. This includes four days of instruction and all materials.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be requested at least ten (10) business days prior to the first session. Those who do not cancel prior to the cancellation date will be charged the full amount of the program. In this case, you will have a one-time only chance to reschedule within the same fiscal year, space permitting, at no additional cost. Cancellations are strongly discouraged as the program is currently offered once per quarter, and we anticipate a long wait list for this series.

Frequently Asked Questions:

I am a supervisor. Can I take the Growing Your Career series?

Absolutely! This workshop series is designed for any City staff person who would like to explore their own career development. Program content is valuable for staff at all levels of an organization.

Can you provide a workshop for my department?

Yes! This workshop series can be provided for a departmental group or team for up to 20 participants per class. However, since this series is four sessions in length, please contact us well in advance of your target date, so that we can make sure to accommodate you. If you are interested in a group session, please contact the Career Development Program Coordinator, Jack Hagerty @ jack.hagerty@sfgov.org to discuss scheduling and pricing.

Can I miss a session and make it up later?

Each workshop day builds on the previous day and involves some pre-work between sessions, so please register for a series where you will be able to fully participate in all sessions and pre-work. This helps to maintain program continuity for yourself, as well as your cohort colleagues. In the case of an unexpected illness or personal emergency, make ups may be allowed in a later session, only when the session is not full.
