- Job Classes
- Each Civil Service classification is assigned a four-digit class number (also referred to as a class code). If you know the class number of the classification you are interested in, enter it here and click "Search."
- Exempt Status
- Certain classifications are exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act, and are designated with a "Z" symbol in the City and County of San Francisco's official Compensation Manual. Overtime provisions as they are applied to employees in Z" symbol classes are provided in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- 5th Step Entry
- Pursuant to the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement, certain classifications enter at the 5th step of the salary range to which that classification is assigned.
- Unions
- Most Civil Service classifications are represented by a union or recognized employee organization. To see a list of classifications represented by a particular union or employee organization, select the organization and click "Search."
