Hispanic heritage month also provides an opportunity for dialogue and reflection about the issues that specifically impact Hispanic people.
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. This month is celebrated nationwide through festivals, art shows, conferences, community gatherings, and much more. Check out some San Francisco community-focused events at the San Francisco Public Library .
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Department of Human Resources has created the below virtual backgrounds for all employee use. Some of these backgrounds include papel picado, a Mexican folk art involving cutting elaborate designs into tissue paper, often used as a decoration for celebrating holidays, events, and other special occasions. Also included is the Latin American Youth Center mural drawn by Latino artist Marela ZacarÃas, located in Washington DC, this mural reflects political, representational, and intersectional aspects of Latino culture and experience.
